PFA Engineering have accepted WAM's test report and and will now accept the WAM-120 engine for use in PFA aircraft broadly falling into the JAR-VLA category. This is initially at 98HP rating. WAM is now conducting further testing to increase this rating to 110 then 120HP.

As part of the Royal Aero Societies prestigious series of lectures Mark Wilksch and Phil Franklin presented.

Guests came from as far as Duram, Jersey and the Netherlands (despite a London tube strike).

A production version WAM-120 three cylinder engine passed the severe JAR-22H 50 hour test at 100HP peak rating. The engine was stripped and found to be in excellent condition.
The test will now be repeated at 110HP then 120HP peak ratings.

Testing resumed with modified integral blower.
August 2002
Test cell upgraded with new computer and high speed instrumentation. Development work on light weight integrated blower and timing drive components. First tests with new Mechanical Control Unit (MCU) satisfactory.

WAM-120 JAR-22H 50 hour test now half complete without problems. Rating: 120HP take-off, 100HP max. continuous.

Design of WAM-120 engine mount frames for Europa, RV9 and Murphy Rebel is now complete. Initial samples of these are now under manufacture.

Cold start tests achieved to -10°C using Jet-A1 turbine fuel. An upgrade to WAM's test facility now allows cold start trials to sub-zero temperatures. Low temperature starting has been found to be good, despite the lower Cetane number of turbine fuel (relative to diesel).
